Make this: Northwoods No-Sew Apron

View File to PrintNo-Sew aprons are a simple gift that takes little time to make and can be customized in many ways for your recipient. That’s a win-win!

Give an apron as a hostess gift, a coach/teacher gift or a good neighbor gift.  Pair it with custom decorated dish towels and some other charming kitchen gear and you’ll have a really nice gift for your favorite cook.

The aprons we carry are plain (in white and black) and ready to be embellished in any way you want. They are 100% cotton chino and can be machine washed and tumbled dry. Let’s get started making this cute Northwoods style apron. We used the Buffalo Plaid here, but of course you can use whatever fabric you want.

Supplies:

Before beginning pre-wash your apron and iron. Aprons are 100% cotton chino and are machine wash / tumble dry.

Directions:

  • Cut a piece of fabric 27” x 5”. Cut another piece 11” x 4”.  If you like the like the look of the pinked edge, use your pinking shears.
  • Do you want your fabric to fray? If not, cut the Heat’nBond Ultrahold the same size as your fabric and fuse it in place following the Heat’nBond instructions found on the packaging.
  • If yes, cut a piece of Heat’nBond Ultrahold 26½” x 4½”. Center it on the back of the 27” x 5” fabric and fuse in place, following the Heat’nBond instructions.
  • Cut a piece of Heat’nBond Ultrahold 10 ½” x 3 ½”. Center it on the back of the 11 x 4” fabric and fuse in place, following the Heat’nBond instructions.
  • Using the apron photo as your reference, place the smaller piece of fused fabric at the top of the apron and the larger piece on the bottom. Fuse in place following the Heat’nBond instructions found on the packaging.

For the Appliqué:

  • Trace the bear or moose onto the paper side of Heat’nBond Ultrahold. Rough cut around it.
  • Cut a 6” x 6” piece of fabric. Fuse your animal in place on the back of the fabric following the Heat’nBond instructions found on the packaging.
  • Cut the animal out along your traced lines.
  • Using the apron photo as your reference, fuse your animal in place following the Heat’nBond instructions found on the packaging.

Your apron is ready to wear or give as a gift!
