Sew this: Simple Charms Baby Doll Quilt – Free Pattern

How sweet is this Charms Baby Doll Quilt made by Angie at the Beaverton store? So so sweet, is the answer in case you’re wondering. This is an easy quilt that measures 41″ x 47″ when finished. It is paired here with our Goldilocks and the Three Bears Cut and Sew Dolls designed by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda.

Supplies:

• 2/3 yard focus fabric for the horizontal band.
• 2 charm packs
• 1/4 yard accent fabric
• 3/8 yard binding
• 1½ yard backing

Focus Fabric:
1- 12½ x 41”
2- 5½ x 41”

Accent Fabric:
4– 1½ x 41”
Select 9 charms and cut them in half
horizontally to make 2– 2½ x 5” pieces from each charm.  Total of 18.

Assembly:

1. Stitch nine 5” charm together end to end. Stitch one 5½ x 41” piece of focus fabric to the top of the charm strip and one to the bottom.
2. Fold this unit in half lengthwise (Down the center of the charm strip) and press. Place along the bottom edge of the 12½ x 41” piece of focus fabric.  Mark a vertical line at the center and 10” in from each end.  Stitch on each line across all layers to create four pockets.
3. Stitch nine 2½ x 5” rectangles together, end to end, in random order. Repeat to make two strips, 2½ x 41”
4. Stitch nine 5” charms together, end to end, in random order. Repeat to make six strips, 5 x 41”
5. Stitch rows together, as shown, in the following order:

5 x 41 charm strip
1½ x 41 accent strip
2½ x 41 half charm strip
1½ x 41 focus/pocket strip
12½ x 41 border stripe
1½ x 41 accent strip
2½ x 41 half charm strip
1½ x 41 accent strip
Five 5 x 41 charm strips, one after the other. 

4. Quilt and bind using your favorite method.
