Sew Long Little Doggie Pincushion

Pincushions and More by Chris MaloneThis happy little doggie is a pincushion designed by Chris Malone from the new book by Annie’s Quilting “Pincushions and More”. We’ve just received this fun book in the stores and we’re all quite smitten.

Katrina from our Design Team took on the task of creating this little dog pincushion and had a great time doing so. She says he’s the perfect companion for watching a movie while binding a quilt – he’s a helper (holding clips and pins) and he doesn’t talk during the movie.

This project is easily made in an evening and is good for a confident beginner.  The pattern takes a fat-eighth for the main body and another for the pocket.

Katrina used Poly-Fil for the front and back and crushed walnut shells for the middle. The shells give him a little more weight and grabs the straight pins a little better.

There are lots of adorable pincushion patterns in the book. These would make great gifts for your friends, family and quilting circle.
