Step-by-Step: How to Make It

1) Paint the “flag” layout

  1. Mark 15.5 mm down from the top and draw a light guideline for your blue section.
  2. Divide the lower portion into stripes that are 3 mm wide each.
  3. Use washi tape if you want extra-clean lines.

2) Add color

  • Paint the top section blue.
  • Paint the stripes red and white (alternate).
  • Paint 4 small stars the same white used on the board.

Let everything dry completely before assembling.

3) Make the burlap accent

  1. Cut burlap to 2.25″ x 4.25″.
  2. Glue cardstock (1.5″ x 3.5″) to the back of the burlap using white glue or Mod Podge.
  3. Once dry, fray the unglued portion of the burlap for that rustic texture.

4) Assemble the décor

  • Glue stars, burlap accent, and letter tiles where you like.
  • For the bow: use 4 strands of twine, tie into a bow, and attach.
  • Hot glue a button to the center of the bow to finish it off.

Make It Your Own (easy variations)

  • Swap letter tiles to spell: USA, HOME, LAND, JOY, or your family name initial.
  • Use distressing: lightly sand edges after paint dries for a farmhouse look.
  • Add mini greenery picks, a tiny tag, or a ribbon tail for extra “display energy.”
