Did you spend your summer painting rocks and leaving them in public spaces for people to find? Have you recently found a painted rock somewhere and wondered why?
In the last several months lots of people have been purposely leaving painted rocks in public spaces. The finders of the rocks can take them home or rehide them. This random act of fun and kindness has gained a huge following lately, especially here in the Pacific Northwest. This trend is part of a larger idea called Art Abandonment and people have embraced painted rocks this summer as a fun way to create and distribute art for all to enjoy. Most participants belong to Facebook groups that check in about rocks that are being left and rocks that have been found. Learn more about painting rocks here.
As a family-run Pacific Northwest company, Craft Warehouse loves the idea of combining family art projects and our beautiful local scenery. We created this event to help you produce your own painted rock treasures for people to find.
Starting today through October 7 we’re having a Paint and Release Event! During this time you can get great deals on supplies for painting rocks, look for Rock Painting Make and Takes at your local Craft Warehouse and search for painted rocks in the store. If you find one with a Craft Warehouse logo you win a prize!
So gather your river rocks (or buy some at the store, we have nice smooth ones) and get to painting. Tag us with #craftwarehouserocks to show us your rocks.
